Winn Brown is a USA Archery Level III Coach, Level I and II Instructor Trainer, and founder and head coach at Maine School of Archery. Winn is passionate about making archery accessible, safe and enjoyable for everyone. As a USA Archery Instructor Trainer, Winn works with many of the summer camps in southern Maine to certify their archery counselors. He has also certified many of the Level II Instructors in Maine. Winn teaches archery at LL Bean in Freeport, Point Sebago Resort in Naples, and Portland Recreation in Portland. A Maine native, Winn returned to the state after years away and now resides in Naples with his wife Kathy. When he is not coaching, Winn is an avid bow hunter, embracing every chance to pursue his passion for archery and the great outdoors here in Maine.
Tom Stocker, a USA Archery Level 2 Instructor, recently retired from a career as a science teacher and now enjoys sharing his passion for archery with both young people and adults. His love of archery, sparked by his father during his childhood in New Jersey, has flourished over the years. After college, Tom moved to Maine with his wife Sarah, where they raised their family on a working farm in Buckfield. This rural lifestyle provided ample opportunity to hone his skills with the compound bow. Tom now dedicates his time to perfecting his recurve archery skills and enjoying time with his grandchildren. Residing in Bath, he continues to share his love for teaching through his role as a Sea Kayak Guide at LL Bean and an instructor with the Maine School of Archery.
Cooper Power, a Level 2 USA Archery Instructor, blends his love for the outdoors with a deep commitment to teaching. Raised in Maine, his passion for nature shines through his love for bowhunting, fly fishing, hiking, and canoe racing. Cooper's professional life extends beyond archery; he is a dedicated public school teacher with a specialization in working with individuals with disabilities. His dedication to personal growth and teaching is also evident in his lifelong pursuit of martial arts, where he both trains and instructs at The Academy in Portland. Cooper shares his archery expertise at L.L. Bean in Freeport and at the Maine School of Archery, enriching students' lives with his holistic approach to instruction.
Dietlind Vander Schaaf is a USA Level II Archery Instructor, a Range Safety Officer (RSO), and an A Team member for the Southern Maine chapter of A Girl And A Gun. In addition, she is a 500 hour Kripalu Yoga Instructor with specialty training in advanced asana, pranayama, Ayurveda, meditation, and vinyasa. Dietlind grew up in Maine and lives in Portland with her partner Kelly, a certified arborist and shotgun instructor for LL Bean. Dietlind is a professional artist represented by Portland Art Gallery, Edgewater Gallery, and Artemis Gallery. She teaches painting workshops throughout the country and internationally. Dietlind spent three years working for the Appalachian Mountain Club and loves to spend her time outdoors hiking, stand up paddleboarding, and cross country skiing. She began practicing archery three years ago and appreciates the opportunity archery provides to reduce stress; hone focus, spatial awareness, and eye/hand coordination; and develop upper body strength.
Bob Flis is a highly skilled outdoor enthusiast and educator, certified as a USA Archery Level 2 Instructor. He is also a Registered Maine Guide with specialized licenses in Sea Kayaking and Recreation. As a guide for LL Bean's Outdoor Discovery Programs, Bob leads overnight ocean kayaking adventures and canoe expeditions along the iconic Allagash and Penobscot rivers.
A passionate paddler, Bob holds a Level 4 American Canoe Association Instructor certification and excels in teaching canoeing and kayaking skills to both new and intermediate paddlers. His engaging and approachable teaching style has inspired countless adventurers to embrace the water with confidence.
When he’s not guiding or coaching, Bob channels his energy into cycling. An avid cyclist he has completed many century rides and Mount Washington Bicycle Hill Climbs. During the last few years he has taken to Mountain Biking on the various trails in Maine.
Bob calls Newcastle, Maine, home, where he enjoys the state’s natural beauty with his wife and daughter. Whether he’s on the water, the trails, or teaching archery, Bob’s passion for the outdoors is evident in everything he does.
Bryan is a level 2 archery instructor with The Maine Schoolof Archery who teaches recurve and compound skills, focusing on the necessary physical, mental, and technical components of archery to both adults and children. He has previously instructed at Point Sebago Resort in Naples and Portland Recreation in Portland, Maine.
In addition to hunting with a bow or firearm, Bryan is an enthusiastic angler, Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver, and year-round ice hockey player. You may also find him working for the Portland Sea Dogs in the summer or as a ski technician at Pleasant Mountain ski resort during the winter.
As residents of Naples, Bryan and his wife, Susan, spend much of their free time enjoying the water and exploring the many attractions Maine has to offer.
